Monetary donations are the engine that powers our mission to assist local families right here in Iowa County. Your financial support allows Give Till It Hurts the flexibility to provide essential resources, including gift cards for warm coats and clothing, critical funds for Iowa County schools to support children in need, and direct assistance for nutritious meals. Since 2015, we’ve channeled over $250,000 back into our community, helping families in Williamsburg, North English, Marengo, and surrounding areas experience the magic of Christmas and stability year-round. Every dollar you contribute ensures we can reach every child and provide the warmth and hope they deserve.

Support the Iowa County Food Bank and local pantries by contributing non-perishable goods and holiday meal components. While our primary focus is bringing holiday cheer through gifts, we recognize the year-round challenge of food insecurity for many families in our area. By dropping off non-perishable food donations at our designated locations throughout Williamsburg, Iowa, you are directly strengthening the resources available to our partners like the Love Network and the Iowa County Food Bank. Your generosity ensures that our neighbors not only receive gifts but also have wholesome meals during the challenging winter months.

Volunteers are the heart and soul of Give Till It Hurts, making our annual fundraising events and distribution efforts a success. We rely entirely on dedicated community members to coordinate our events at venues like the Sundown Bar and Grill, sort incoming Christmas gifts, manage silent auctions, and help with logistics. Donating your time is an invaluable way to make a direct impact on the lives of Iowa County children and truly embodies the spirit of giving. Whether you can spare an hour or join our committee, your commitment helps lighten the load and multiply the kindness for those who need it most.
To see the expression on a kids face when we are able to present a gift to any student that is less fortunate or have circumstances beyond their control, is always touching.But to be able to present these gifts for so many students in our area schools pulls on a person’s heartstrings in a way that is difficult to explain. As an administrator, knowing that there are people vested in the “Give Til It Hurts” organization, is such a tremendous tribute to the quality of people living in our communities – willing to give with no agenda or without expecting anything in return. While no one wants to believe we have many kids struggling in our schools, the reality is that we do. The people behind the “Give Til It Hurts” organization have made it their mission to put a smile on many faces and provide hope for kids who have lost it. For that I am so very grateful! You are all amazing individuals and your efforts speak volumes! Thank you and Merry Christmas to all of you!

Many of our successful outreach efforts, fundraising events, and school partnerships began with a simple conversation shared by a passionate supporter. You can multiply our impact by posting about our mission on social media, encouraging your local Williamsburg business to host a donation drive, or simply telling a neighbor about how we support Iowa County families with gifts and essential resources. As a grassroots nonprofit, every mention, share, and word-of-mouth endorsement you provide helps us reach more donors and identify more families in need of the warmth and kindness of our community.
Give Till It Hurts funds are SO APPRECIATED here at Williamsburg Jr/Sr High. They help provide:
- athletic shoes for students participating in sports, and whose families cannot afford specialized shoes
- concert attire for students participating in music, and whose families cannot afford dress clothes
- midyear school supplies, like notebooks, folders, pencils, and earbuds (when we’ve used up back-to-school donations)
- swimsuits so students can complete the swimming unit and pass PE class
- winter coats, hats, and mittens (if St. Paul’s United Methodist Church’s clothing closet doesn’t have the correct sizes)
- food (if the school’s food pantry is low and waiting for a HACAP delivery)
In essence, Give Till It Hurts funds allow WHS to ensure students are safe, connected, and cared for while they’re here in the school building. There’s no way we could serve the students and families of Williamsburg as well as we do without Give Till It Hurts!
