It is hard to believe that what started as a simple conversation among friends has blossomed into a long-standing movement. Founded in 2015, Give Till It Hurts began with a single, humble goal: to ensure that every child in our community could experience the magic of Christmas.
For over a decade, we have witnessed an outpouring of generosity that has warmed hearts even during the coldest Iowa winters.
The Turning Point: Remembering 2019
Every organization has a moment where the mission truly takes flight. For us, looking back at our event on December 13, 2019, at the Sundown Bar and Grill in Williamsburg reminds us of how far we have come.That year was a testament to the power of gathering together. In 2019 alone, we raised and distributed nearly $15,000 to assist Iowa County families. It was a night filled with live and silent auctions, laughter, and a shared purpose. The boxes placed around town for donations were overflowing, and the silent auction items rolled in from generous local businesses who wanted to be part of the solution.The success of events like the one at Sundown allowed us to expand our reach beyond just toys. We began providing warm coats, school supplies, and nutritious meals, proving that when this community gathers, mountains move.

Since 2015, our grassroots nonprofit has grown into a pillar of support for Iowa County. We are proud to report that 100% of donations stay right here in our local area.

We do not do this alone. The secret to our success is our close relationship with local schools and organizations. By partnering with school administrators, we ensure that donations go directly to the families who need them most, maintaining dignity and privacy for the recipients.
Over the years, funds raised at our events have been distributed to:
- Local Elementary Schools: Amana, English Valleys, HLV, Iowa Valley, LIS, and Williamsburg.
- Community Support Networks: Adopt a Family, The Love Network, and the Iowa County Food Bank.
